Truck Route Ordinance
Adopted 04-27-00
Effective 06-03-00
Due to the M-14 construction, we are seeing an increase in traffic on our township roads.
Truck traffic has increased as well since truck drivers are looking for detours to get
from I-94 to US 23 or vise versa. In order to keep these trucks off our secondary roads,
the Township Board has enacted an ordinance against any commercial truck of 10,001 pounds or more that transports goods, wares, merchandise or other property that is not
doing business with a company or individual at an address in Webster Township.
Exempt are garbage trucks, road maintenace and repair, utility vehicles, fire
and emergency vehicles, farm equipment, and routine local service or pick-up and delivery.
Roads in Webster Township exempt from this ordinance are:
All of North Territorial, Mast between Dexter Village and N. Territorial,
Dexter-Pinckney and Island Lake.
All other roads, streets, alleys, lanes or highways within the township
are declared "No Truck" or "No Thru Truck" roads.
Penalty is a civil fine of not less than $250.00, not more than $500.00,
plus costs, damages, expenses and other sanctions allowed by the law.
