FRONT ENTRANCE
       
01.   Is the door of  metal or solid wood construction?
02.   Is door frame strong enough to prevent forcing
       or spreading?
03.   Are door hinges mounted on the inside?
04.   Are there windows in the door or windows within
       40 inches of the door?
05.   Are the door locks adequate and in good repair
       with 1" dead bolt?
06.   Are strikes and strike plates adequate and properly
       installed with 3" wood screws?
07.   If there are no windows in the door, is there a wide
       angle viewer or voice intercom device?
08.   Can the lock mechanism be reached through a mail
       slot, delivery port or pet entrance at doorway?
09.   Is there a screen or storm door with an adequate lock?
10.   Is exterior or front entrance lighted with at least a
       40 watt light?
11.   Can the front entrance be observed from the street or
       public areas?
12.   Does the porch or landscaping block view from street
       public areas?


SIDE OR REAR ENTRANCE

13.   Is the door of  metal or solid wood construction?
14.   Is door frame strong enough to prevent forcing
       or spreading?
15.  Are door hinges mounted on the inside?
16.  Are there windows in the door or windows within
      40 inches of the door?
17.  Are the door locks adequate and in good repair

ENTRANCES FROM GARAGE AND BASEMENT  INTO LIVING QUARTERS

25.  Are all entrances to living quarters from garage and
      basement of metal or solid wood construction?
26.  Does door from garage to living quarters have locks
      as adequate as exterior doors with 1" deadbolt?
27.  Does door from basement to living quarters have an
      adequate lock operated from inside the living quarters?

GROUND FLOOR WINDOWS

28.  Do all windows have adequate locks in operating   
      condition?
29.  Do windows have screens or storm windows that lock  
      from the inside?
30.  Do any windows open onto areas that may be hazardous
      or offer special risk to burglary?
31.  Do windows that open to hazardous areas have security
      screens or grills?
32.  Are exterior areas of windows free from concealing
      structure or landscaping?
33.  Is exterior adequately lighted at all window areas?
34.  Are double hang windows pinned?
35.  Have casement window cranks been removed?

UPPER FLOOR WINDOWS

36.  Do any upper floor windows open onto a porch or garage
      roof or roof of adjoining buildings?
37.  If so, are they secured as adequately as if they were at
      ground level?
38.  Are trees and shrubbery trimmed back from upper floor windows?
39.  Are ladders kept outside where they are accessible?

BASEMENT DOORS AND WINDOWS

40.  Is there a door from outside into the basement?
41.  If so, is that door adequately secure as an exterior door?
42.  Is outside basement entrance lighted by exterior light of
      least 40 watts?
43.  Is outside basement door concealed from street or
      neighbors?
44.  Are all basement windows adequately secured against
      entrance?

GARAGE DOOR AND WINDOWS

45.  Is automobile entrance door to garage equipped with
      an adequate locking device?
46.  Is garage door closed and locked at all times?
47.  Are garage windows secured adequately?
48.  Is outside utility entrance to garage as secure as any
      other outside entrance?
49.  Are tools and ladders kept in the garage?
50.  Are all garage doors lighted on the outside by at
      least a 40 watt light?

OTHER

51.  Are any valuables left out in view from windows?
52.  Do you have a maintenance service?
53.  Do you have a newspaper service?
54.  Do you have a cleaning service?
55.  Are timers used when you are away?
56.  Are warning decals on display?
57.  Is your name displayed on your mailbox?
58.  Do you hide a key outside in case of lockout?
59.  Do you have smoke/carbon monoxide detectors
      in your home, garage, workshop and barn?
60.  Is your house address visible from the street?
61.  Do you have outdoor motion detectors on all sides
      of the house plus the driveway?
62.  Do you have a home security system?
63.  Do you have a dog?
64.  Does you home look occupied when you are away?

AUTOS

65.  Do you lock your vehicle if you leave it parked
      in a driveway or unlocked garage?
66.  Do you leave you wallet, purse, cell phone or other
      valuables in your vehicle, locked or unlocked?
67.  Do you leave your garage door opener in your vehicle
      when gone for extended periods of time?
68.   Do you have an alarm installed in your vehicle?

FAMILY

69.  Have you discussed safety rules with members of the family?
70.  Do you have an escape route for upper floor in case of fire?
71.  Does the babysitter know how to get ahold of you
      or a neighbor in case of emergency?
72.  Do children know how to dial 911 and what to say?
73.  Do children know "Stop, Drop and Roll"?
74.  Do children know not to answer the door to strangers
      no matter what they say?
75.  Do you have a secret "code word" with your children that
      can be used by someone you authorize to pick them up
      from home, school or playground?     
76.  Does your neighborhood participate in Neighborhood Watch?
